Mt. Pleasant, Christchurch

The Christchurch earthquake turned tragedy into opportunity, allowing a contemporary touch to be added to this villa. The renovation brought new life to the space, blending modern design with the home’s original charm.

Once described by the owner as an “earthquake casualty,” the damaged mantelpiece became the start of something wonderful. Repurposed into floating shelves, it now adds character to the newly renovated villa kitchen, marking a fresh chapter in their life.

Careful consideration went into the angle of the Solid Rimu Island benchtop, designed to maximize space while keeping the areas connected. The result is a beautiful, open kitchen that's as functional as it is inviting.
